Maintenance And Repairs

As with any mechanical system, ventilation systems require routine maintenance and occasional repairs in order to keep them running safely and at optimal efficiency. While it may be easy to assume that a system is working perfectly and only call in professionals like IHSL when a problem occurs, scheduling regular maintenance checks enables us to identify minor issues and fix them before they turn into major problems.

Why is maintenance necessary?

Regular maintenance helps to prevent accumulations of dust and grease, which could pose a fire risk and possibly lead to health issues for occupants. By cleaning fans, replacing filters, inspecting valves and dampers, and checking control systems, IHSL will not only extend the lifespan of your ventilation system but could well save you considerable money and time in the long run.

For the majority of ventilation systems, we recommend a comprehensive servicing every 2 years, although this may vary depending on the type of system and how old it is.

Natural ventilation systems, for example, will require much less maintenance, although visual inspections and the occasional clean are still necessary.

On the other hand, it is a legal requirement that smoke ventilation systems must be regularly inspected and maintained.

What kind of repairs do you perform?

Whether we have identified an issue during a scheduled maintenance inspection or you’ve called us because there’s a problem with the system, our expert technicians operate within three main areas:

  • Troubleshooting – Through visual inspections and relevant tests, we are able to diagnose and repair any issues we discover.
  • Reactive Repairs – These generally include issues such as pressure leaks, damaged components or system malfunctions.
  • Emergency Repairs – Unexpected breakdowns can bring entire companies to a halt. If your ventilation system suddenly stops working, we do our best to get it back online as quickly as possible.

We also conduct pressure tests to detect and prevent leakages that may be reducing the efficiency of your ventilation system and affecting the indoor air quality of your property.

Alongside maintenance and repairs, IHSL offers a ventilation cleaning service to keep systems safe, efficient and compliant.
