Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) Assessments
An indoor air quality assessment is a method of evaluating and improving the condition of the air within an enclosed space, such as a residence or workplace. This assessment focuses on factors like humidity and temperature, ventilation and airflow, and the presence of pollutants and allergens, all of which can impact both the health and comfort of occupants.
What does an IAQ assessment involve?
- Initial Inspection – First of all, we perform a visual inspection of the property to identify potential issues such as mould growth, water damage or wear and tear.
- Air Sampling – Our expert personnel collect samples of the air to detect and measure the presence of pollutants like dust, microbial contaminants, volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and carbon dioxide.
- Parameter Measurements – Using state-of-the-art equipment, we measure several factors to assess the overall air quality, including temperature, ventilation rates and humidity.
- Laboratory Analysis – Just as with our PVTs and microbiological sampling surveys, we send our samples to an independent laboratory to determine the nature and extent of potential air quality issues.
- Advice and Solutions – Once we have all the necessary information, our experienced team implements the relevant measures to resolve the issue and offers professional advice on how to maintain optimal indoor air quality in future.

Are frequent IAQ assessments necessary?
There are several factors that determine how often you should schedule a professional IAQ assessment, mostly depending on the type and purpose of the property in question. Hospitals and laboratories, for example, will have stricter legal requirements surrounding air quality than the average workplace. As a guideline, however, conducting a test every few months is generally recommended in order to remain fully compliant with Health & Safety and Building Regulations, and to stay ahead of any potential issues.
